community advocates & leaders.
We build enthusiasm in communities by hosting events and community activities, with advocacy opportunities around homeownership.
Putting equitable
home ownership first.
How We Started
In order to solve this problem a regional/state-wide non-profit organization has been created. LEVEL: Equity Buildings (LEVEL) is a 501c3 nonprofit providing a holistic, system-innovating program model to develop homeowners, housing stock, and communities at a pace complementing each other. We build enthusiasm in communities by hosting events and community activities, with advocacy opportunities around homeownership.
Our Mission & Purpose
LEVEL: Equity Building (LEVEL) will alleviate the most risky and burdensome aspects of the development process from the community. Our focus is to acquire, assemble and own real estate, and provide development and construction management expertise and capacity to Community Development Corporations (CDCs), Municipalities, and neighborhoods. We engage in partnerships through but not limited to Memorandums of Understanding, cooperation agreements, and/or joint ventures. Our cross-sectional expertise provides adaptable solutions to neighborhoods based on the existing community conditions. There is a particular focus on the rehabilitation of vacant, existing single family homes, along with new construction homes. These properties will be sold to qualifying low-moderate income existing community residents who in their current situation are renting. Additionally, small scale commercial projects, community facilities, parks and green spaces, and other opportunities will be considered as part of the comprehensive community assessment and planning process.
Our Model
LEVEL is a long term solution to address housing inequity and facilitate dignified, affordable homeownership opportunities for existing residents.
Working at the intersection of Asset-Based Community Development principles and market-based realities, we are invited into neighborhoods and work alongside and in the community to move its residents into sustainable homeownership.
Our process includes the collection and mapping of community data which informs and drives all decision making and investment strategies. This data and shared resources, strategically working together, to help facilitate opportunities for homeownership, small business start-ups, workforce development, education, health, arts and culture, youth development, food access and anything else that might be discovered – the possibilities are truly endless.
